Fr. Augustine Herbers, SVD

Memorial Library

April 17, 2007

Dear Madam Costes:

I am Trofima M. Pangonilo, the librarian of the Divine Word College of Urdaneta, Urdaneta City, your Alma Mater and I wish to thank you and your group for the various volumes of books and other materials you sent us through Mrs. Manzano. Indeed, the materials will be of good use for our library. I was very happy while I was sorting them especially when I found out that most of them were published in the year 2000 to 2006. Yes, Madam, I believe you know the situation of our library that our collection is composed of books published in the 1990's. We had an inventory of the materials and its very sad to note that the bulk of our collection are obsolete yet we are not removing them because there will be no more copies left in the library.  I learned from Mrs. Manzano and Miss Aguilana of your willingness to help us upgrade our library collection. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requires us to have books that were published in the last five years for our collegiate course offerings yet our school budget could not afford to provide such books due to budget constraints and the high price of books here in the Philippines. Please help us update our collection particularly in our program offerings in the college department which are: Computer Science, Commerce major in management, marketing and management accounting, Bachelor of Arts major in psychology; office management and education and philosophy for our seminarians.

Please extend our Divine Word family's heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Johnny Soriano, Mr. Dodi Bautista, and the other alumni who made financial contributions. I know that the Divine Word spirituality that has been implanted in your hearts remains as a link between you and your Alma Mater. May God bless your undertakings and grant you and your group all the blessing you need to be able to continue the invaluable project which you have initiated. Thanks and God bless.

Very gratefully in the Divine Word,

Trofima M. Pangonilo
